I have been a practicing clinical psychologist for over 15 years. I am interested in many areas of psychology, and have worked in a range of settings including private practice, consulting, police, defence, the public health care sector, and universities. As a university lecturer (both at the University of Queensland and the University of Southern Queensland) I have been very involved with the training of clinical psychology students and interns, and place a strong emphasis on evidence-based intervention and methods of best practice.
I enjoy working with a range of clients, particularly adult men and women who are facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, loss and grief. I am passionate about living well and developing psychological strengths. Much of my work is grounded in the field of evidence-based positive psychology which identifies and grows psychological strengths in order to bolster individuals’ ability to manage challenges and to thrive. I believe that challenges are an opportunity for growth and development, and am interested in not only helping my clients overcome the difficulties they are facing but also in helping them to use these difficulties to become their most authentic selves. I work extensively with QPS and Defence and have strong interest and experience with members from these organisations.
